What Makes Us Different

We design, build and operate our facilities

We have been involved in the design, building or operating of over 20 pet services facilities. Scott designed retail stores in the US, UK and on 4 continents. That experience has translated over to the companion animal industry. When you operate a facility, you learn what works and what doesn’t work. Each of our buildings is a “next generation” design with improvements, learnings and insights from our previous experiences. Scott has served as the General Contractor, supervising contractors and our own TWI construction crew for all three buildings.

We use some of the best materials available

All of our animal containment areas use Fiber Glass Reinforced panels (FRP) and all of our kennels are 9 gauge welded, powder coated wire, built by Priefert. We don’t use concrete block  (you can’t keep it clean and sanitized), nor do we use chain link which is both dangerous (pointed edges on the top and bottom), and easily chewed through. Our floors are acid etched (stained) concrete with full center drain systems (easier to clean and sanitize). All of our construction materials meet local and state building code and inspection requirements and all of our materials meet the standards set by the federal Animal Welfare Act. Many small operators are unaware of theses standards and their facilities won’t meet these standards…all of which are designed to protect you and your pet from harm.

All of our boarding runs are indoor/outdoor

Your pet has nearly 75 sq. ft. of their own indoor and outdoor space to use during their stay. Our outdoor areas are designed for your pet’s comfort with a 4’ overhanging roof for shade and protection from inclement weather. Our outdoor surface is small gravel that we disinfect weekly. While many operators tout concrete outdoor runs, we have found that many pets develop sore feet from constantly running back and forth to the outside enclosure. Also the staff maintenance requirements for cleaning and sanitizing concrete runs are more difficult and expensive, increasing your costs.

No hassle business attitude: Inclusive pricing, and straight forward options

Our basic lodging package includes what most pets need to have a happy, healthy experience. Many clients want more than the basics. They pamper their pets at home and they want them pampered while in boarding. We feature three levels of services so clients can pick the level of service they want their pet to receive. We have added new options for highly beneficial enrichment experiences, picture packages, and Pet Health Guarantee Program.

We have found that many of our clients want more. We strive to meet their needs while still satisfying many of our existing clients’ needs.

  • Complex feeding: nearly half of our clients want their dog to be fed 3 times a day or they feed multiple foods, supplements, toppers etc. to their pets. This is a good thing as owners are trying to provide more nutritious options for their pets, which will help their pets live happier, healthier, and longer lives. This adds time to the feeding process and requires addition storage and meal prep area. Clients can pay for this heightened service level or bring pre-packaged food and avoid additional charges.
  • Clients want pictures of their pets. This is a complex process and we receive a wide range of negative feedback on social media from clients and non-client followers. These pictures also push valuable client facing information down our Facebook page. We are now offering pictures as a part of our Gold service package and they will be texted to clients who can then post them on their own social media pages.
  • Pet Health Guarantee: We have very few problems with illness or injury in our facilities. But on the occasion when something happens this option provides you with peace of mind.

Many boarding facilities require behavioral testing and want to make sure your dog is compatible with their facility. We think that is just kind of silly and just upsets customers. Our professionally trained staff, our procedures and facility design allow us to handle a variety of pets safely in a positive supportive environment at a reasonable cost. Many facilities require owners to pre-package food. You really don’t need one more thing to do when you are trying to leave town. We don’t require it. Many facilities require that you choose add-ons as a part of your stay. Your pet can stay at TWI Pet Retreat and not have to pay for any extras.

We have professionally operated facilities

Each of our facilities use industry best practices for housekeeping and sanitation. We require vaccinations to insure the health of all animals in our buildings. Our record keeping and computer systems are state of the art. Our management staff has more than 80 years of companion animal experience and our owners have supervised several hundred thousand pet stay days. We have several qualified vet techs on staff as well. Our professional operation ensures that you pet will have a safe, happy, healthy, and enjoyable stay in our facilities. And if something unexpected does happen, our experienced staff knows what to do.
