Paws for the Cause
Tin Woof Inn has started having fund raising events to raise money for various local charitable needs that involve pets, encourage responsible pet ownership and benefit our clients and the Morehead area. Last year our Paws for the Cause event in May raised more than $2000 to help purchase a bullet proof vest and other equipment for the Rowan County Sheriff Office new canine officer, Bandit. In December we held a Pictures with Santa and raised more than $500 for the Sheltowee Trace Association. In the past, we have also held fundraisers for Doves, STAR and other causes.
Rowan County Animal Shelter
For the past 3 years we have worked Rowan, Fleming and Bath County to build a new animal shelter in Rowan County. We contributed the original shelter design, and wrote several sections of the grant application that lead to securing a $150,000 grant from the state for a tri-county shelter. Our involvement in several meetings with the 3 Judge Executives lead to a working agreement between the counties that allowed the project to move forward after original cost estimates of more than $400,000 nearly killed the project. We were actively involved in selecting the site for the new shelter, having reviewed more than 30 sites and doing feasibility work on 2 other sites prior to the selection of the final location. We congratulate local officials, including Jim Nickel, Judge Executive, and Harry Clark, Magistrate, for their efforts in driving the new shelter project through to completion.
Pet Therapy Work
One of our Aussies, Catcher, is a Certified Pet Therapy Dog through the Love on a Leash program. Gale and Catcher visit the Owingsville Ridgeway and Hilltop nursing care centers and the Lifecare Center located here in Morehead.
No Pile Left Behind
Our No Pile Left Behind Program places pooper scooper stations in public places to encourage pet owners to pick up after their pets. Our initial deployment includes 3 stations at Heritage Place and we hope to deploy additional stations at various public locations around the city in the future.
We continue to be actively involved with various individuals and organizations to adopt out local stray and abandoned dogs and cats.
Tin Woof Inn serves the Morehead and Ashland areas.
